Joshua French, father of Elizabeth French Ewing, probably died soon a fter (or possibly before) Elizabeth's birth in 1819 near Louisville , KY. Her mother, also named Elizabeth, then remarried to Martin/Fra ncis Verry/Vary in Floyd Co. IN. Upon this husband's death, the youn g Elizabeth's mother moved her family to Perry Co. IN. It is though t that the older Elizabeth, whose maiden name was Boyles, was probabl y a sister to Hannah Boyles, wife of George Ewing, Jr. Therefore, wh en James V. Ewing (son of George Ewing, Jr.) married the young Elizab eth French, he was marrying a first cousin.
Marriage Information:
Elizabeth married James Vickery EWING, son of George EWING Jr. and Hannah BOYLES, on 11 Apr 1835 in Perry Co., Indiana. (James Vickery EWING was born on 1 Nov 1813 in Athens Co., Ohio 4, died on 21 Jan 1884 in Franklin, Allamakee, IA and was buried in Allamakee, Iowa.)
