After being born in Cannelton, Indiana, Dorothy grew up in and around Detroit, Michigan. She and husband, Herman Dennis, lived at 19365 Woodside, Harper Woods, MI from 1949 until the time of their deaths. Dorothy was actively involved in raising her children and grandchildren. She was a Boy Scout Den Mother, a Blue Bird and Camp Fire Girl Leader, a PTA President and room mother. She was also actively involved in her Church, Resurrection Lutheran Church, Eastpointe, MI and was President of the Ladies Guild on several occasions. In her later years, she developed an interest and talent in crafts and particularly in making intricate decorative eggs. She made hundreds of these eggs in the last 20 years of her life, mostly as gifts. She also taught the craft to others. Her daughter, Marilyn, has a large collection of them. Dorothy was an extraordinary caregiver to others, helping neighbors and friends whenever needed. She also cared for her husband, Herman, who struggled with Parkinson's Disease for the last 15 years of his life and was confined to a nursing home for the last year. Dorothy's Mother, Florence Hanselman, lived with her until her death only a year before Dorothy's.
Dorothy Latimer Dennis was admitted for membership into the Daughters of the American Revolution on February 1, 1972. National No. 565914. Ancestor who fought in Revolution was George Ewing, Sr. (16)
