Philemon Tecumseh Sherman was never married. He received an A.B. from St. Louis University in 1886, a Ph.D. from Yale in 1888 and studied at Columbia Law School from 1888-1890. He was a lawyer in New York, an author, and was Commissioner of Labor for the State of New York from 1905-07. He is listed in Who's Who in America. ³⁵
