General Notes:
Thomas crossed the sound from Connecticut and took up residence at East Hampton on Long Island. He there married Clemons Scudder by whom he had one son named Constant and a daughter named Clemons. He then moved to New England Town, now Fairton near Bridgeton, Cumberland County, New Jersey, where he became a heavy property holder and respected citizen.
On April 4th, 1717, he and Henry Joyce received from Jeremiah Bacon "A deed for one acre of land in trust for the people called Presbyterians on the North side of the Cohansey River, to build and establish a meeting house for the public worship of God." The substantial brick building was erected in 1735 and established the Presbyterian Church of Greenwich, New Jersey. Thomas and his son, Clemons, as well as Thomas Ewing, Mercy Maskell, Thomas Padgett and James Caruthers were members of this organization and liberal contributors.
Sometime after his settlement in New Jersey, Thomas Maskell's wife Clemons died. Afterward, in 1700, he married Mercy Stathem and had three daughters.
The Will of Thomas Maskell of Cohansey, Salen Co., NJ dated 26 October, 1732, states: "To Mary Yeuens (Ewing), daughter, 100 acres. To Maskell Yeuens, grandson, son Constant Maskell" other bequests were made.

Thomas also married Mercy STATHEM, daughter of Thomas STATHEM and Ruth UDELL, in Dec 1700 in Greenwich, Cumberland Co., New Jersey 55. (Mercy STATHEM was born in 1685 in Cumberland Co. NJ 55 and died on 20 Apr 1741.)
