William Ewing "of Cohansey in the county of Cumberland and Province of West New Jersey, Husbandman" wrote his will 7 April, 1749. He would have been 69 years old. He leaves the sum of 5 shillings to "my brother James Ewing." To his "beloved brother-in-law Charles Dennis, Jr. I leave all the rest of my estate both real and personal." The will was witnessed by Nehemiah Craven, John Richardson and John Bee. Charles Dennis, Jr., was to "be sole executor." William Ewing signed his name quite well on the original copy. "Charles Dennis, Jr., executor appeared 1 May 1749 being one of the people called Quakers upon his affirmation" The inventory of William's estate was made by John Butler and Samuel Fifthian on 1 May 1749. The estate was valued at L152.15.02 and was made at Greenwich Twp., Cumberland Co., N.J. An abstract of his will can be found on page 171 of N.J. Calendar of Wills 1730-1750. 31
