On Perry Co. IN census for 1850 p. 381 family #529; age 36 b. OH. occupation was listed as plasterer. DAR application #112009 for Mabel C. Pettin gill lists Nathaniel's birth and death dates.

Marriage listed in PERRY COUNTY INDIANA MARRIAGES 1814-1852. Nathaniel served as administrator of his father's estate in Perry Co. IN which involved his making a trip to Illinois to settle a debt owed to George Ewing, Jr.

The Grantor/Grantee indexes for Perry Co. IN list quite a number of land transactions conducted by N.H.Ewing & wife. These records span the years 1835 (when Nathaniel is given a gift of 5 1/4 acres of land adjoining Rome, IN by George Ewing, Jr.) through February 16, 1855 . The land record for the 1835 transaction says that Nathaniel is the son of George Ewing, Jr. Nathaniel was still in Perry Co. on October 5, 1853 when George Ewing, Jr.'s estate was finally settled. The book, HISTORY OF WARRICK, SPENCER AND PERRY COUNTIES, INDIANA -1885 b y Goodspeed, p. 662 states, "N.H.Ewing was assessor in Cannelton [Perry County] in 1857." However, sometime before the 1860 census Nathaniel must have moved from Perry Co. as he does not show up in that census. It is thought that Nathaniel moved on to Macoupin Co. IL, settling in the Gillespie area.

Nathaniel married Margaret Curtis DUNN on 25 Aug 1832 in Perry Co., Indiana. (Margaret Curtis DUNN was born on 21 Feb 1814 in Kentucky ⁶⁰ and died on 30 Apr 1894 in Gillespie, Macoupin Co., IL ⁶⁰.)
