General Notes:
Joshua Ewing was a weaver by trade before the Revolutionary War. During the War, he was a Captain in the Militia. George Ewing makes a number of references to his "Uncle Joshua" in his Military Journal and to his visits during that time. He was a member of the state legislature. After his death, his widow with three sons and four daughters emigrated to the west. To this family, many of the Ewings of the Middle West will doubtlessly be traced.
Marriage Information:
Joshua married Hannah HARRIS, daughter of Nathaniel HARRIS and Elizabeth HARRIS, on 10 Dec 1760 in Greenwich, Cumberland Co., New Jersey. (Hannah HARRIS was born on 5 Sep 1738 in Greenwich, Cumberland Co., New Jersey and died in 1815-1816 in Madison Co., Ohio.)
